Первые 3-4 сантиметра наконечник надо вводить по направлению к пупку, затем ещё на 5-8 сантиметров параллельно копчику. Если вода перестаёт течь, это может быть вызвано тем, что наконечник упёрся в стенку кишки, его надо слегка подвигать. Важно следить за скоростью поступления воды в кишечник, регулируя её высотой расположения кружки. Слишком быстрое поступление воды может вызвать боль, сильный позыв на дефекацию. В таком случае кружку опустите пониже.
Оставив на дне кружки немного воды, чтобы в кишечник не попал воздух, закройте кран на конце резиновой трубки и извлеките наконечник. Желательно удержать после этого воду в течение 5-10 минут. Для этого нужно лежать на спине и глубоко дышать. Введённая в кишечник вода не всегда приводит к достаточному опорожнению. Для усиления действия клизмы в воду можно добавить половину чайной ложки растёртого в порошок детского мыла, или 2/3 столовой ложки поваренной соли, или стакан отвара ромашки.
К любой процедуре, даже к обычной клизме из одной воды, есть противопоказания. Это острые воспалительные заболевания в области заднего прохода, кровоточащий геморрой, любое кровотечение из желудка или кишечника.
